We begin August with Venus retrograde in Virgo since July 27. Venus rules love and attraction. Many of us will be reconsidering our emotional connections. Our thoughts and feelings about any sort of partnership will be put back into the blender in order that we can process what has happened and what we hope to happen. Since Venus is initially retrograde in Virgo we are dissecting our partners’ imperfections. Virgo can be so critical. Health concerns and that industry are sure to be in the news at this time.

Venus backs into Leo August 8. Leo is highly expressive and even a bit dramatic. Since Leo rules the heart many of us are sure to feel dramatic about events pertaining to our love lives. Some of us will be dealing with our physical heart and its workings. As Venus moves to connect to Saturn on the 13th; we will be faced with the responsibilities that love entails. Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, and Aquarius are most challenged with their own behavior and their high expectations around other peoples’ actions. While Venus is coming to connect with Saturn, Saturn is forming a wonderful angle to Pluto. Look to the deeper meaning of the words that people use. Venus goes direct on September 8. At that time, we will have more clarity about what we truly desire.

We have been feeling Saturn coming to trine Pluto since late June and even though the aspect is exact August 6 we feel the effects all through August. When Saturn was opposite Pluto in the summer of 2001 we were forced to address our differences of philosophy, religion, and our security. A sudden shift took place in how we viewed our world and the way in which we move about in our lives. Now that Saturn has moved to trine Pluto we are feeling less reactionary. We can now look at ways to improve our lives and situations minus the knee jerk actions. Educational endeavors are highly favorable now as many of us look to empower ourselves with new and improved choices.

During August 16-21 the Sun and Mercury join Venus and Saturn in the trine to Pluto. This is a supercharged time for Leo, Sagittarius, and Aries to pursue educational opportunities or actions that bring respect and recognition.

Other good news includes Jupiter going direct in Sagittarius August 6. Jupiter has been retrograde since April compelling Sagittarius to rethink previous decisions. Some have cancelled travel plans, speaking engagements, or associations while reconsidering how to proceed. Jupiter’s retrograde movement has been especially frustrating for Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, and Virgo. Once this beneficent planet moves forward many of us will be able to proceed with expansive plans. Sagittarius will feel optimistic again.

Mars moves into Gemini on August 6 and moves through this sign until September 28. Gemini rules our thoughts and communication while Mars is the warrior. Many of us will be thinking overtime, analyzing every facet of any issue. Some of us, especially Aries and Gemini, will be more argumentative than usual. Use caution on short jaunts and avoid sweating the small stuff. During the days of August 13 to 30 we will be feeling Mars opposite Jupiter and both square the nodes of the Moon. This configuration forms a four point square in the zodiac. Many of us will feel underpaid and unappreciated. Mercury also enters the square on August 24 and 25 fueling harsh words. Arguments are sure to erupt during this time. Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces are especially wise to consider how actions and words can affect their circumstances before flying off the handle. Venus opposite Neptune fuels our desire for life to go well but it also shows us just how life is nowhere near perfect. All this boils down to creating warm winds of change that begin to happen in September, December, and next January.

Topping off this intense month is the full Moon on August 28. This one is extra intense since it is a lunar eclipse. It occurs at four degrees Pisces at 5:35 AM CDT. Pisces rules the ocean which means more news about the secrets of the sea are sure to come about during the days and weeks around this eclipse. Discoveries hit the papers especially since Mercury is opposite Uranus. Other surprising events happen around large institutions especially hospitals. Drugs and drug companies will also be in the news. While under the influence of the eclipse all are urged to use caution around the coastlines. Look back in your life to this time in 1988 when an eclipse last happened in this sign at this position. History is telling for those who can remember. This lunar event is most challenging for Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius born in the early degrees of these signs. Doors are sure to close now. However, new ones will begin to open with the new Moon eclipse in Virgo that occurs September 11.

August 2 The Sun in Leo is trine Jupiter about to move forward in Sagittarius. This is an optimistic time for fire signs Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Plans payoff and travel is favorable.

August 3 Mercury about to leave Cancer is sixty degrees from Mars still in Taurus. Many of us have a mission and nothing will do until we have accomplished our desire. Cancer and Taurus cannot help but be direct.

August 4 Mercury moves into Leo until the 19th. Our will power will be strong, so set your mind to bending that spoon on the table. Since Leo is a warm and expressive sign our words and deeds will be heartfelt and with hugs. Leo is more animated than usual while Aries and Sagittarius have plans and schemes that just seem to go with the flow over the next two weeks. Scorpio, Aquarius, and Taurus are wise to watch the words they use, so as not to offend.

August 7 Venus, retrograde in Virgo, is ninety degrees from Mars now in Gemini. This is sure to have relationships under a strain as words and acts are misconstrued. It is best to have face to face conversations so that intonations and intentions are not misconstrued. Tell that faraway honey you will check in with him or her in a couple of days.

August 9 Mercury now in Leo is trine Jupiter in Sagittarius. Plans, especially travel plans, go very well. Business matters, contracts, and real estate transactions all go well.

Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are optimistic and lucky.

August 12 The new Moon occurs in Leo at 6:02 PM CDT. This is the beginning of the lunar cycle and time to initiate mundane projects over the next sixteen days. This new Moon in Leo offers the energies to use our personal charm and magnetism to get what we want. A bit of visualization will go along way. This new Moon is most auspicious for Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Those who are born today or right around this day have lots of new beginnings over the next year.

August 13 The Sun in Leo is opposite Neptune in Aquarius. Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, and Taurus do well to hold off making any major decisions. Information is not clear and many of us are feeling a bit hazy about what we think is correct. Since Venus is retrograde and conjunct Saturn, many of us will not be sure of what is expected of us. Ask for directions unless you want to get lost. Those who are not responsive to a loved one’s needs are sure to have trouble.

August 14 Mercury, now opposite Neptune, prolongs the confusion of yesterday. Details and data are not clear. Before heading out in new directions consult a map literally and figuratively. This is no time to make important decisions especially for Aquarius, Leo, Taurus or Scorpio.

August 19 Mercury moves into Virgo until September 5. Mercury is at home in this sign. Our thinking can now turn toward practical matters. Unfortunately, this week is sure to be full of clashes of logic and ideologies.

August 23 The Sun moves into Virgo until September 23. Our minds and thoughts will now turn away from the fun times of summer and gear toward the practical tasks necessary for getting back to school. Many of us will be preparing ourselves and our gardens for the fall. The Sun moving through Virgo affords Virgos more stamina than usual. The Sun forms positive angles to Capricorn and Taurus helping these signs to get to their goals with ease.

Leo, Jul 23 - Aug 22
The first week of August is a tough one for Leo. Go with the flow even when the flow is not going. Research alternate plans and routes when dead ends appear. This month is most challenging for Leos born the 17 to 23rd. Those who accept a new mission become successful in months and years ahead. Lions born during the first 3 days of August have a fine month full of opportunities and rewards. All Leos are very busy on the fifth. Life blows open with possibilities on the 9th. Virgo, Aug 23 - Sep 22
 Time alone contemplating what the future holds helps Virgo to prepare for the coming challenges that begin September 2. Let go of dead weight and dogma that does not serve a purpose. Resources and situations that have been on hold begin to bear fruit August 7. Frustrations ease at that time, but Virgo is still faced with working out more than one relationship, whether it is personal or business. There will be more than one relationship that ends. Career requires important choices before moving forward. Many will have to bear the brunt of responsibilities for other people’s tasks as well as family members’ well being.  Libra’s ruler, Venus, has been retrograde since July 27. Goals are setback and faraway friends are a disappointment. Libra has so many items to juggle that there is no time for those who are not part of any solution. You must be the one who makes the rules whether that includes telling the in-laws to back away from your vacation or lower the boom on a sibling. Use your velvet hammer to inform others that your choices are first and foremost for your best interest. Many will protest that Libra is unjust but you know you are not. Training puts Scorpio on the fast track to success. Recognition for jobs completed brings raises and accountability. Many are offered jobs. Those who handle their money wisely are putting finances into play that can carry you through the next several years. Sort through paperwork in order to deal with taxes, loans, or shared financial matters. There will be frustrations in these same areas at mid month. Continue to jump through bureaucratic hoops in order to get desired outcomes. Scorpios born in the second half of November are making life altering changes.  Aquarius is in the final thirty two days of Saturn moving through their opposite sign.
