I have been writing this column for over twenty-five years now and in order to better assist readers who are not students of astrology I offer some suggestions as to how to use the monthly summary.

Read the summary with your calendar that shows the whole month on one page. Read through the intro and make note of the days that I point out. Mark the new Moon and the full Moon. The days between the new Moon and the full Moon are when you generally want to start something that you want to grow. Do look at that Moon void chart and take a rest on those days. I have discovered that no matter what I plan, it turns out another way on a Moon void day. Anything you try to accomplish will turn out with unexpected results.

Make note of the three days before the new Moon. People usually get anxious during these days because the phone does not ring or they feel confused or simply nothing is happen. That is because it is wind down time before the new Moon. You will usually notice that the action of life picks up once the new Moon occurs. Also note the days that planets change directions, especially Mercury retrograde.

Hopefully these suggestions will give you a bit of a start to maneuvering through life with astrology.

March 2019

Daylight Savings Time begins March 10 at 2:00 am

Oftentimes someone I know will have a bad day and call to ask, “Is Mercury retrograde?” Even as I write this in late February friends and clients are commenting that something has gone awry and maybe it is because Mercury is about to go retrograde March 5.

Mercury gets such a bad rap when he just wants us to pay more attention to the details of what we are doing. Mercury retrograde insists we proofread our work. Mercury retrograde offers us opportunities to change our mind. We should rarely make a final decision during this period. Of course the basics tenets are that you don’t buy anything mechanical or start a new job or just about anything else while Mercury is retrograde

Mercury is retrograde March 5 to 28 in Pisces. The symbol of Pisces is two fish swimming in opposite directions. Many of us will be doing that or just chasing our tails like a puppy. This month will be confusing. Just sit with it and hope for inspiration. Turn your thoughts inward and know that whatever happens is a stepping stone to another place or level in life.

March 15 Mercury in Pisces will be square Jupiter. My dear friend Ginger used to say, “Nothing gets done without a square.” Nothing productive will get done with this square because of Mercury. There can some tall tales like when the guy rings your doorbell and says your neighbors just bought his exterminating service. I like to say, “Oh yeah? Which neighbor?” They always forget the name but wave in a general direction. That’s Mercury retrograde square Jupiter, vague.

At the same time but exact on March 16 Mercury is sextile Pluto. Mercury and Pluto has us focussing our thoughts on deeper subjects, but are we getting the right answer? Right after that on March 17 Mercury is sextile Mars. This can be productive but we are likely to misfire or miss our target goal. Our efforts and words may not get us what we want unless we are changing our minds and direction.

Take the day off March 24 when Mercury is conjunct Neptune in Pisces. Better yet, go to your local aquarium or pet store and watch all the fish swim in different directions. This is not time to do much more than tune into your inner self.

The biggest news of March and possibly for 2019 is that Uranus moves into Taurus and transits this sign until 2026. Uranus dipped into Taurus May 15, 2018 until November 6, 2018. What was going during that time for you?

The last time Uranus moved through Taurus was 1935 to 1942. During that time Franklin Roosevelt had already initiated the New Deal and 1935 began the Second New Deal. The Second New Deal brought about many reforms including The Social Security Act,The Housing Act, The National Labor Relations Act, and The Works Progress Administration Act. As a result the Lincoln Tunnel was built, La Guardia Airport was built, the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was built as well as schools, and hospitals. Later on, The Revenue Act was passed to redistribute wealth as well as The Fair Employment Act of 1941.

Today we are hearing about the Green New Deal. Talk of guaranteed jobs is coming up and once again the need for health care for all.

Taurus rules money. Uranus rules the masses and feminism. In the coming years we are going to see a change in our financial system. New currencies are popping up such as Bitcoin. Women are currently coming to the forefront and assuming power. This will continue over the next seven years. Do not be afraid unless you do not like change. Those who resist the change that is here will have the most difficulty. Fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius will feel these changes more than most of the signs. However Sagittarius and Libra will be making big adjustments to their lives. Virgo and Capricorn generally will embrace the changes with ease.

March opens with Venus in Capricorn forming a square to Uranus in Aries. Both planets are at the twenty-ninth degree of the sign they occupy and that creates stress and completions. Venus is love and Uranus is independence. Expect the unexpected from your honey or someone else close. Unusual connections occur with interesting people. Stay on your toes.

Right after Venus squares Uranus March 1, she moves into Aquarius until March 26. Venus in Aquarius accentuates our need for independence with our closest relationships. Some of us may feel like our beloved has detached from us. Venus is square Mars in Taurus and sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius March 21. Venus and Mars brings up passion and in some cases anger especially for Taurus and Aquarius. However, the sextile to Jupiter is very productive and positive. Taking a chance brings nice payoffs. Just make sure you don’t go over the top with your intentions and actions.

Venus moves through Pisces March 26 to April 20. While Venus moves through Pisces, we feel more compassionate and touchy feely. The best warning is don’t get obsessed and do not rescue others. Venus is sextile Uranus in Taurus March 27. Get out and raise your social quotient. Love is a numbers game so meet and greet.

The new Moon occurs March 6 at 10:04 am CST at fifteen degrees Pisces. This is a busy new Moon. It is conjunct Neptune, while sextile Mars in Taurus and Saturn in Capricorn. A lot of productive and compassionate efforts can be accomplished, however, there is confusion with Mercury retrograde. Perhaps the most productive things we can do are activities that help us recharge and prepare for the changes ahead. Reorganize your finances. During this time there will be lots of news regarding the redistribution of wealth and income inequality. Do something compassionate during this lunar cycle that lasts until the new Moon April 5.

March 9 and 10 the Sun in Pisces is sextile Saturn and Mars is sextile Neptune. Accept your role in life and get to work. Truth and awareness comes to light at this time.

Just days later on March 13 the Sun in Pisces is sextile Pluto in Capricorn and square Jupiter in Sagittarius. We can achieve our aims with confidence. Guidance comes from behind the scenes and you may not even know the guidance is happening.

Mars in Taurus is trine Saturn in Capricorn March 14. Organize the way you handle your money especially if you are Aries or Sagittarius. This aspect is especially positive for Virgo to feel supported financially. Worrying about money is a waste of time no matter what the circumstance or loss.

The full Moon occurs March 20 at 8:43 PM CDT at zero degrees Libra. This is a busy full Moon as Mars is also trine Pluto and Mercury is sextile Saturn. The Sun has just moved into Aries. Imbalances are evident at this time. Who is on what side comes to light and secrets are sure to be revealed. There will be more about immigration and travel accidents are likely to occur especially since Mercury is still retrograde. Hang onto the rail when the boat rocks. Those of us most affected by this instability will be the ones born in the late and early days of the signs.

Mars trine Pluto at this time brings up events that fuel causes and grass root movements. We will not be able to turn away from what must be done regarding inequality. Mercury sextile Saturn gives our words the power to energize others. If your desk is covered with papers, clear the clutter.

The Sun moves through Aries March 20 to April 20. The Sun enters Aries at 4:59 pm CDT signaling the beginning of Spring. We now emerge from the cocoon of winter and plan for the months ahead. Our days are more productive generally, but we must plan wisely as opposed to flying by the seat of our pants. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius largely enjoy smooth sailing over the next month.

Mars moves through Gemini March 31 to May 15. Mars is usually very straight to the point but while he is moving through versatile Gemini we may feel a bit scattered. Try to stay focussed on one task at a time. We will want to do so much but time will be a constraint.
